India Markets: Impact of Terrorist Activity

Friday, November 28, 2008

I would agree with most analysts that the impact of these terrorist attacks will be a minor blip on the economic radar in the short term.  However, the impact longer term will be deeper.  It is in the ability to attract human capital into India that our longer term growth story will be written.  We have a young, educated and motivated work force.  However, India has a experience gap with the developed world.  Capital will flow; how to make the best use of capital for long term growth is a new phenomenon for our country.

General human resource companies will tell you:  we have many teachers but few principals; many administrators but few CEO's, and so forth.  India has to continue to attract excellence from abroad at the highest level if it is to maximize the returns from its resources.

It is in this vein that the long term impact of these terrorist attacks will be felt.

On a different note here is some interesting reading from today's blogsphere:

Education Spending

Sovereign Debt Default

China Troubles
