India: A Terrifying Night, A Sad Morning

Thursday, November 27, 2008

Terrorists have attacked again;  in mind numbing scale....over a 100 people killed and more than 800 injured...and the siege at major hotels in Mumbai, the commercial capital, continues.

It seems the terrorists came by boat and car...and attacked everywhere:

In one of the most violent terror attacks on Indian soil, Mumbai came under an unprecedented night attack as terrorists used heavy machine guns, including AK-47s, and grenades to strike at the city's most high-profile targets -- the hyper-busy CST (formerly VT) rail terminus; the landmark Taj Hotel at the Gateway and the luxury Oberoi Trident at Nariman Point; the domestic airport at Santa Cruz; the Cama and GT hospitals near CST; the Metro Adlabs multiplex and Mazgaon Dockyard -- killing at least 101 and sending hundreds of injured to hospital, according to latest reports.

Head of the anti-terror squad, ACP Mumbai and encounter specialist have been killed.  Almost as if they were targetted.  You will recall in New Delhi, an encounter specialist was killed recently...in that case, unfortunately, constituents of the UPA governement rushed to side with the terrorists.

This attack will also eventually end;  the number of casualties is unbelievable and the destruction to property will be in crores.  Will India learn anything from this...this UPA government is made up of short sighted fools who will sacrifice anything for a few votes.

I have no doubt the constituents of the UPA will find some way of blaming the victims for this act of barbarism.  It is a sad day when so many innocents are massacred wantonly and I know the UPA government must be in damage control for its vote-bank rather than working on the security of the Nation.
